More than 30 events culminate in Sunday’s Wellesley Veterans Parade, Picnic and Fireworks. The first Wellesley Veterans Parade was held more than a half-century ago.
Friends of Wellesley Veterans, Inc. is lead funding organization working with the leadership vision of the Wellesley Select Board and its standing committee, the Wellesley Celebrations Committee.
Thousands of Wellesley residents join together to honor those veterans who served our country and also recognize those organizations and people who serve our community. This is the largest community gathering of town-sponsored events held each year — known as Wellesley’s Wonderful Weekend.
Approximately ninety percent of the funds used for the Veterans Parade and Fireworks come from the voluntary donations of the town’s residents, service community groups and local businesses. Individual donations and business sponsorships provide the budget to pay for the marching bands and other groups that have been enjoyed by the community for more than 50 years.
