Boston Marathon Reception Tent for Wellesley Veterans
Wellesley Public Library – Side Lawn
530 Washington St, Wellesley

The Friends of Wellesley Veterans hosted a reception tent on the lawn at the front of the Wellesley Public Library along the route of the Boston Marathon to celebrate the participation of its first-ever runner for the Friends of Wellesley Veterans.

During the 2025 race, we tracked our runner, Louis Cavallerano, who raised money for the Friends of Wellesley Veterans.

The day started at 9 a.m with a live performance of jazz and selections of military music from members of the Natick American Legion Band. The Friends of Wellesley Veterans provided coffee and continental breakfast to our Wellesley Veterans. And, at noon, we provided lunch for Wellesley Veterans.
Our FoWV runner, Louis is a 2023 Wellesley High graduate who is now studying at Bryant University. He says “it is my honor to give back to those who protect our freedoms.” This is his first marathon and his first fundraiser for any charity!
Louis appreciates your sacrifice; which has made possible many of the opportunities and values in his life.
All the festivities at our reception tent were provided FREE by a generous donor to the Friends of Wellesley Veterans.
Donations in support Louis’ efforts to honor veterans were made through the Boston Marathon Charity Program.

Louis Cavallerano (age 20): Friends of Wellesley Veterans to support veterans
What are you up to these days? I am currently a second year student at Bryant University, in Smithfield, RI, Studying Marketing and Political Science.
What’s your running background and how’s your training going? No official running background, I played lacrosse in high school and continued the sport at the club level at Bryant. Training is going well, considering this is my first marathon, and running is not a big hobby, I am seeing improvement in my endurance and stamina.
How have you approached fundraising? Being my first fundraiser, I’m learning things along the way. Constant communication via social media, emails, and other media types has been a great help in raising funds. Posting regular updates regarding funding and training progress allows potential donors to follow me along my journey.
